Watch the Hobart City Council!

Dog walkers need to watch the Hobart City Council meeting on 23 February 2026 and listen to the views expressed about dogs.

Be aware, you will need to take a deep breath, make a cup of tea and watch your blood pressure.

On a positive note: these Councillors demonstrated a balanced approach to decision-making, an understanding of the community and the needs of dog walkers, and that some dog walkers are diverse and some have mobility issues. We thank these Councillors for considering community access, inclusion and participation: Lord Mayor Anna Reynolds, Alderman Louise Bloomfield, Councillor Ben Lohberger, Councillor Mike Dutta and Councillor Gemma Kitsos.

Dogs are debated for two hours during the Council meeting. It is important viewing given the Council Elections are in October.
