Tasmanian Dog Walking Clubs Inc.

Sorell and Districts Dog Walking Association Inc was formed after community wide disapproval of a Sorell Council decision to close Blue Lagoon and Red Ochre beaches to after hours dog walking during the summer months. We have now evolved into a municipality wide dog group affiliated with the Tasmanian Dog Walking Association and able to lobby and negotiate with Council and others on behalf of dog owners throughout the municipality.

 

The more members we have the stronger our negotiating position when talking with the Council on dog matters.

 

Our aims:

• To lobby for the retention and enhancement of suitable dog walking areas (both on and off lead) in the Sorell municipality.

• To promote education regarding responsible dog ownership, and harmonious living with dogs in our community.

• To enhance the image of well controlled dogs as a benefit to our community. We would encourage all dog owners to become members of the association and to raise any issues with members of the committee. In this way your voice will be heard and brought to council in a combined effort to gain the best possible solution for dogs and owners in the municipality.
