Taroona coastal track

Details
  • Location - Taroona

  • Access - Nubeena Crescent or Taroona Beach

  • Facilities - dog bags and bins

  • Freedom - on-lead along the coastal track

Information:

Toilets and a BBQ area are located at Taroona Beach. From here, walk past the car parking area and along the track (or along Taroona Beach, which is off-lead east of the boat ramp) to Batchelor's Grave, a five-minute stroll towards the eastern end of the beach.  The grave is clearly marked and has an interpretation sign.  The view from here is quite spectacular with expansive views of the Alum Cliffs and the Shot Tower.

The coastal track follows the rocky coastline. This well used path is narrow and can be slippery when wet.   This part of the track ends at the old water treatment works, and one can walk back to the Apex Park off-lead exercise area via Nubeena Crescent.

The coastal track continues on in front of houses and ends just before the Taroona High School.

You can either return by the same route or turn up into Melinga Place and then into Flinders Esplanade, past the soccer grounds and back to the off-lead area via Nubeena Crescent and Chitin Chase. It is a short walk back to the beach from there.
