Although the Dog Control Act 2000 was amended in December 2017 to allow greyhounds to be unmuzzled while being walked in public, Clarence City Council’s Dog News September 2018, advised that until the Greyhound Un-muzzling Program is finalised “all greyhounds must still be muzzled when away from the property where they normally reside”.

Greyhounds cannot be exercised off-lead in public off-lead areas.

Non-compliance can result in fines.

People walking unmuzzled on-lead greyhounds in Hobart and Clarence have been receiving warnings from Councils.
